D64

3rd – 5th Grade Ministry

D64 is a ministry for the families of 3rd to 5th-grade students at Gilbert Bible Church. D64 stands for Deuteronomy 6:4, which is the beginning of a key Old Testament passage. This passage proclaimed truth about God, called Israel to love the Lord their God, to remember the commandments of God, and then tasked the parents in Israel with instructing their children in these words. In the New Testament, this verse is quoted by our Lord (Matt 22:37), we are similarly dependent upon the Word of God to lead us to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus and then growth in godliness (2 Tim. 3:14-17), and believing parents are similarly to instruct their children to know the Lord and His ways (Eph 6:4). We love these truths. As the parents of Gilbert Bible Church have the responsibility to bring up their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord, the aim of this ministry is to come alongside parents to teach and practice basic Bible study skills with the 3rd to 5th grade students such as: making observations from God’s Word, listening to the teaching of God’s Word, learning to take notes during expository teaching.

Currently, 3rd to 5th-grade students in D64 meet roughly once every two weeks after our regular Saturday Evening corporate gathering. We meet from ~6:50-8:30 PM, where we eat a meal together, listen to a Bible lesson, and participate in a game or group activity.
